A Christmas Shirt Becomes an Apron!
I DON'T wear Christmas shirts or sweaters anymore. Rather than donate this shirt, which was a gift, I decided to alter it. I had one yard of Christmas themed fabric on hand, and a red cotton bias trim usually reserved for quilts. I had the components to make an apron!

Purple Kitchen Accessories

It's tough to find purple kitchen accessories, especially all in one store. My finds this week include a purple kitchen rug from Kohl's, purple spatula and measuring cups from Target, and a purple bakeware stone from Pier 1.
Etsy also has some fantastic homemade accessories such as magnet boards, washcloths and scrubbie pads.
My own homemade accesssories include a purple floral mixer cover and a pansies basket cover.

Pineapple Doughboys Recipe from the 1960s

This is a simple fried dough, 2 ingredient recipe. I found this recipe in a newspaper that my Grandmother saved from the 1960s.
You need 1 can of refrigerated biscuit dough, and some canned fruit like pineapple or peaches.
Using a rolling pin, roll canned refrigerated biscuits thin; place a few drained pineapple tidbits (or 1 peach slice) in the center of each. Gather edges over top the fruit filling and pinch tightly to seal.
Fry in deep fat ( I used a cast iron skillet filled with 1/4 inch of canola oil) until golden brown. Do this for approx. 1 minute on each side. They may appear too dark, but trust me, they'll be cooked on the inside! Remove from oil and pan, drain, and shake cinnamon powdered sugar all over. Best served warm and crunchy!
